o kama pona tawa lipu ni!

Or, in other words, may your visit to this page be good! If you're here, you probably saw a poster for the hopefully-burgeoning toki pona club of Northwest Reno. Thank you so much for humoring me enough to look at the link! I hope you will also be able and willing to show up to the NW Reno library this weekend!!

"Who are you?"

My name is Swarm and I use it/its pronouns! I am a Reno local and a proficient toki pona speaker and am currently on break from college. I want to bring toki pona to more people and get more involved with the local community outside of school - hence, this. This isn't an official thing in anyone's capacity! I'm just some guy who thought this would be cool.

"What's toki pona?"

toki pona is an artificially constructed language (a conlang) that is a philosophical experiment in minimalism. It has a very simple and strict grammar and a very restricted vocabulary - only about 130 words! - and thus raises a lot of interesting questions about how we talk and think about things almost every time it's used. Believe it or not, it is a fully functional language - you can, with enough skill, talk about things in it just as well as you can any other language, even if the process is strange. And it's fun! It's extremely insightful and interesting, and though it and its ideas aren't for everyone, it can be learned by anyone. It's also extremely helpful in learning

"Where do I learn more?"

"Can I come if I already know toki pona?"

PLEASE DO!!
